Hardinge Bridge

A roughly 1.8 km steel railway truss bridge over the Padma, built in 1912 between Ishwardi (Pabna) and Bheramara (Kushtia). Damaged in the 1971 war and reopened to public passage on 12 October 1972. A popular photo stop for the bridge and Padma river views.

Lalon Akhra (Shrine)

The akhra and tomb of the Baul master Fakir Lalon, about 2 km from Kushtia railway station. He was buried at the centre of his own akhra, and a mausoleum with a research centre was built there in 1963. Twice-yearly festivals (Dol Purnima and his October death anniversary) draw thousands of devotees and Baul singers.

Shilaidaha Kuthibari

The Tagore family's estate country house where Rabindranath Tagore spent part of his life, wrote many memorable poems and in 1912 began translating Gitanjali into English, work that earned him the Nobel Prize. The restored Kuthi Bari now operates as the Tagore Memorial Museum under the Department of Archaeology. One of the main draws of a Kushtia trip.
