Someshwari River
সোমেশ্বরী নদী · Durgapur (Susang Durgapur), Durgapur-Birishiri area, Netrokona district, Mymensingh Division
Introduction
A trans-boundary river originating in the Nokrek Range of Meghalaya (where it is called Simsang), flowing through Susang-Durgapur in Netrokona until it joins the Kangsha River; it is the longest river of the Garo Hills region. In winter its water turns clear and blue, and the river running past the china clay hills forms the classic Birishiri view. Local boats ferry visitors across to Bijoypur and Ranikong.
Suggested time: Half day (as part of a Birishiri trip)
How to get there
Once at Birishiri/Durgapur bazar, the riverbank is within walking or rickshaw distance — the river flows right beside the village.
Important notes
- Crossing to Bijoypur and Ranikong requires going by boat across the river.Community-reportedSource: বিরিশিরি — বাংলা উইকিপিডিয়া
