Bijoypur China Clay Hills and Blue Lake
বিজয়পুর চিনামাটির খনি ও নীল হ্রদ · Durgapur (Susang Durgapur), Arapara and Maizpara mouzas, Kullagora Union, about 7 km northwest of Durgapur Upazila Parishad, Netrokona district, Mymensingh Division
Introduction
Bangladesh's main china clay deposit, identified by geological survey in 1957, where hills of layered black, reddish, brown and bluish clay and a lake formed by mining have become a popular tourist destination. Extraction was halted by court order in 2016 on environmental grounds, but visits to the hills and blue lakes continue. On the way, the ornately carved Kullagora temple is worth a look.
Suggested time: 4-5 hours including the ride
How to get there
Hire a rickshaw from Birishiri/Durgapur bazar; the rickshaw puller typically doubles as guide. The site is about 7 km northwest of Durgapur Upazila Parishad; an early-morning start is recommended.
Important notes
- Reported rickshaw fare from Birishiri to the china clay lake is roughly 250-300 taka, with a 7:00 am departure advised.Community-reportedSource: China Clay Lake — Offroad Bangladesh
