In the monsoon, this canal-side wholesale guava market fills with boats - farmers arrive by dinghy with guavas and buyers from Dhaka and Chattogram trade directly from the water. Around 5,000 visitors come daily in season, and floating hotels serve local fish and duck dishes. The season runs roughly July to September; noon is the peak trading time.
Historical accounts record that Prince Shah Shuja built two forts at Shujabad in Nalchity in 1654 to counter Magh and Portuguese piracy. This is not a developed tourist site - reliable detail on surviving remains is scarce; consider it a side stop for history enthusiasts on a Jhalokati trip and check its current state locally.
