Seasonal warning: Shopping is possible year-round.

Introduction

Rajshahi has been a silk-weaving centre for centuries; Rajshahi silk received geographical indication (GI) status in 2021. Showrooms and handloom workshops in the city sell silk saris and three-piece sets directly to visitors. This is not a single monument but a city-wide craft tradition — allow half a day for shopping and workshop visits.

Suggested time: half day

How to get there

Showrooms in central Rajshahi are an easy rickshaw ride apart. Check in advance whether any specific factory accepts visitors — the state-owned Rajshahi Silk Factory closed in 2002, so today's visits are mainly to showrooms and workshops.
