Seasonal warning: Winter is comfortable for visiting the excavation site; roads can be muddy in the monsoon.

Introduction

A roughly thousand-year-old Buddhist site in the ancient Vikrampur region, occupied in two phases (c. 780-950 and 950-1223 CE), where excavations have uncovered sixteen stupas — including Bangladesh's only complete pyramid-shaped stupa — monasteries and brick-paved roads. Systematic digging has continued since 2012-13 and an archaeological park is planned here. It is significant for visitors interested in the Vikrampur connection of Atish Dipankar Srijnan.

Suggested time: 1-2 hours

How to get there

Take a bus from Dhaka to Munshiganj Sadar, then local transport towards Tongibari to Nateshwar village; confirm the route locally as published directions are sparse.
