Seasonal warning: Winter is best for migratory birds; the waterfall runs in monsoon.

Introduction

A 1,729-hectare mixed evergreen forest along the coast beside Cox's Bazar town, declared a national park in 1980. It is visited for its broken hills, seasonal waterfall and row of Christmas trees, and shelters 286 bird species plus Asian elephants. Easy to combine with a beach trip.

Suggested time: 2-4 hours

How to get there

From Cox's Bazar town take a rickshaw, CNG or hired car north along the beach road via Link Road to Himchari; it is a short ride. Confirm fares locally.

Important notes

  • Roughly 12-18 km south of Cox's Bazar town along Marine Drive. A reserved CNG auto-rickshaw runs about 400-500 BDT per vehicle (20-30 min) - negotiated; no official fare schedule exists.

  • Third-party sources conflict on the entry fee (local adult 20-40 BDT; foreign rates vary). The Forest Department's official rate could not be verified this session - confirm at the gate.
