Hakaluki Haor
হাকালুকি হাওর · Barlekha / Kulaura / Juri (also Golapganj & Fenchuganj, Sylhet), Haor spanning Moulvibazar and Sylhet districts, Moulvibazar district, Sylhet Division
Introduction
One of Asia's larger marshes at about 181 sq km, spanning Kulaura, Juri and Barlekha (Moulvibazar) plus Golapganj-Fenchuganj (Sylhet), and declared an Ecologically Critical Area. Some 558 species of animals and birds have been identified here, with winter bringing migratory waterfowl. In the rains the entire haor floods to nearly four times its dry-season extent and stays underwater up to five months, when boat travel is the main access; in the dry season the beels shrink.
Suggested time: 1 day
How to get there
Access depends on season: via Barlekha/Kulaura (from Moulvibazar or Srimangal) or via Fenchuganj-Golapganj (from Sylhet). Boats are needed in monsoon. Hire local boats for haor trips and check weather first; no verified fares were found.

The honest truth about costs
Boat hire is the main cost; no verified rates — agree local rates before setting out.
