Guthia Mosque (Baitul Aman Jame Masjid)
গুঠিয়া মসজিদ (বাইতুল আমান জামে মসজিদ) · Barishal Sadar / Wazirpur border area, Guthia, Barishal, Barishal district, Barishal Division
Introduction
A 14-acre modern mosque complex begun in 2003, containing a mosque, a large Eidgah, three lakes, a madrasa and an orphanage. Its 58-metre minaret of white marble is described as the tallest in the country. The lakes reflect the mosque from several angles, and evening floodlighting is the best time to visit. It pairs well with Durga Sagor on a day trip from Barishal city.
Suggested time: 1 to 1.5 hours
How to get there
About 11 km (30-40 minutes) from Barishal city along the Barishal-Patuakhali highway by CNG/auto or rickshaw; the minaret is visible from the road. From Dhaka, take an overnight launch or bus to Barishal.
