Seasonal warning: Winter (November-February) is comfortable for canal-side visiting; water rises in the monsoon.

Introduction

A straight man-made canal connecting the Arial Khan river at Tekerhat with the Madhumati at Gopalganj, running directly beside the historic Arpara Munshi Bari; locals also call it the Madaripur Beel Route because many wetlands feed into it. It is known for its tranquil straight stretch of water and riverside village scenery; the source notes native shushuk dolphins occur in its waters.

Suggested time: 2-3 hours

How to get there

Take a Dhaka-Tekerhat bus — the canal starts right there; or take a Gopalganj-bound bus, get off at the Arpara area and walk to the canal beside the Munshi Bari. A same-day return to Dhaka is advised, as nearby lodging is limited.
